The Bedhaghat Boys

Bedhaghat, famous for its marble passages which the narmada has carved, is where the boys operate.

fishing out coins thrown in by devotess or perfoming tricks for the many tourists is how the boys make about a hundred and fifty rupees a day.

From fishing out coins the boys graduate to jumping of marble cliffs before they are trained as boatmen. This is the only way they know of helping support their families before they can commandeer their own tourist boat.

Even when the harsh sun keeps the tourists away from the ghat and in the shade, the boys never pass a chance to make some easy money. They are weary of the authorities but thats a gamble they have learnt to take.

Bhedaghat belongs to these young boys who play and earn in the waters of the beautiful narmada.
